| 内容記述 | This study reviewed cases in Kagoshima, Miyazaki, and Akita prefectures, as well as in Hokkaido, with reference to the effects of the porcine epidemic diarrhea on the corporate management of pig farmers in Japan. The financial impact on pig farmers, whose swine suffered from the porcine epidemic diarrhea, extended to 9 % of their gross sales. This was particularly serious with regard to farmers with smaller sales volumes. In addition, the relentless deaths of piglets, day after day, caused psychological distress to the owners and their workers. There were further problems, such as the recurrence of the disease after vaccination and disinfection, as well as an increase, by approximately 19 %, in the wholesale price of pork. Research has revealed that effective countermeasures, such as the isolation of the stock/virus and the development of a new vaccine, are vital. | |||||
