 note = {Article, ウガンダにて死亡したアフリカハゲコウの雛1 個体の剖検が実施され，小腸壁に多数の結節が存在し，当該結節内からは吸虫が検出された。アフリカハゲコウは国内の動物園でも多く飼育されていることから，健康管理上の基礎資料とするためにこの吸虫について形態学的および病理組織学的検査を実施した。形態学的特徴および計測値により，本吸虫はアフリカハゲコウに特異的な種であるEchinostomatidae 科Chaunocephalinae 亜科のBalfouria mongoama と同定された。病理組織学的には粘膜下組織および筋層に刺入した虫体を中心とした肉芽腫性病変であり，類上皮細胞やマクロファージの浸潤およびその周囲への偽好酸球やリンパ球の浸潤が認められた。また腸管粘膜表面にも中等度の炎症が認められたが，本種の寄生による病害は顕著ではないと考えられた。, Several nodules found on the intestinal wall of Marabou Stork, Leptoptilos crumeniferus , on post-mortem performed at Uganda.
