 note = {Article, 片眼性の原発緑内障と診断された犬の対側眼に対して,0.25%マレイン酸チモロール熱応答ゲル点眼液(TMTG)を点眼し,抗緑内障治療の効果について検討した.無処置の非治療群(23頭)では片眼発症から24カ月以内に全頭で対側眼に緑内障が発症したが,TMTGを1日1回点眼した治療群(19頭)では片眼発症から36カ月までの対側眼緑内障発症率は53%であった.治療群の対側眼非発症率は非治療群と比較し有意に高かった(P<0.01).また,対側眼緑内障発症時期は片眼発症から非治療群で平均7.7カ月,治療群で平均18.7カ月であり,治療群は非治療群と比較し有意に長かった(P<0.01).以上のことからTMTG点眼は,片眼性の原発緑内障と診断された犬の対側眼に対する緑内障発症の予防的治療の一つとて有用であることが示唆された.We evaluated the efficacy of prophylactic antiglaucoma therapy with timolol maleate ophthalmic solution dissolved in thermosetting gel in canine primary glaucoma. In the non-treated group(n=23),all dogs had confirmed glaucoma in the other eye within 24 months of the diagnosis of glaucoma in the first eye. In the treated group (n=19), however, 53% of dogs had confirmed glaucoma in the other eye by 36 months after diagnosis in the first eye.The incidence in the treated group was significantly (P<0.01) lower than that in the nontreated group.Dogs in the non-treated group developed glaucoma after a median of 7.7 months, whereas dogsin the treated group developed glaucoma a median of 18.7 months after the onset of glaucoma in the firsteye. The median time until the onset of glaucoma in the second eye in the treated group was significantly (P<0.01) longer than that in the non-treated group. This data suggest that prophylactic antiglaucoma therapy with timolol maleate ophthalmic solution dissolved in thermosetting gel is useful for the second eye in canine primary glaucoma.},
