In six of eight pigs, the pattern of fluctuations of fecal progesterone was similar to that of swine with normal estrous signs. An appropriate mating period was estimated for the six pigs based on the change in fecal progesterone level, and artificial insemination was performed accordingly. As a result, four of the six pigs conceived and gave birth.
